Resumen

This paper studies the ostracods from the Cartaya section (Huelva, SW Spain). A detailed stratigraphic description of the area is made, as well as a taxonomic study and a definition of assemblages. The fifteen samples taken correspond to the gray clays of the Gibraleón Clay Formation. The most abundant genera are Krithe, Parakrithe, Henryhowella, Cytherella and Propontocypris. They are frequent in other sections of the midde-upper part of this formation, deposited in upper bathyal paleoenvironments of the western part of the old Norbetic Strait. The main species present a bioestratigraphic distribution that spans from the Tortonian to the Holocene.
