Résumé

Introduction. The development of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) is posing new challenges for the academic community. Thus, employability, as the ultimate goal for students, has meant a change in the curriculum design of the different disciplines that is mainly based on skills acquisition and the achievement of learning outcomes. Main Objectives. While there are numerous studies dealing with the analysis of factors affecting the satisfaction of students, much less research has focused on how to validate the feedback of these students on skills acquisition and the achievement of learning outcomes from a gender perspective. This fact becomes particularly relevant if we consider that most of the students in social sciences disciplines are women. Method. Skills acquisition and the achievement of learning outcomes entail the use of many learning activities. Consequently, with the aim of finding out the contribution of such activities to the previous objectives, this study focuses on the application of a news workshop, which has been widely implemented in subject areas related to applied economics. Finally, an anonymous survey was conducted among the students to get their perception about this activity. Results and conclusions. The results obtained prove the effectiveness of the news workshop as a useful activity to achieve the learning outcomes, although there are significant differences if we consider the gender of the students.
