Abstract

The Farsalia was a decisive reading in the conception of Laberinto de Fortuna, since Juan de Mena initially set out to write a poem about the Castilian Civil War. However, in order to avoid the censure that Lucan had received for his lack of poetic strength, he opted to give his historical narrative a fictional shell.
