Abstract
The need to promote the acquisition of critical and reflective thinking in the students who study the career of social education is fundamental insofar as the social educator, in the general sense of the term, constitutes a reference for change that encourages the transformation of realities proposing possibilities that transcend what limits and overshadows. In this article, the author reflects on the benefits of critical thinking as a strategy that warns about the unnecessary or sedative that often characterizes social discourse, and as a position that promotes action based on the investigation of what happens and the alternative possibilities to what there is.
