Doctor by the Universidad de Huelva with the thesis Resolución de problemas un análisis exploratorio de las concepciones de los profesores acerca de su papel en el aula 1998. Supervised by Dr. José Carrillo Yañez.

Graduated in Mathematics from the University of Seville, in 1982 and Doctor in Psychopedagogy from the University of Huelva in 1998. He is a Full Professor of Didactics of Mathematics at the University of Huelva, Spain. It has four research sections recognized by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity. He has directed 9 doctoral theses, 6 in the last 10 years, with another in the development phase. His work is focused on the mathematics teacher's knowledge, his initial training and his professional development. It is a team effort resulting from international cooperation and participation in I+D+I projects. He works in networks (MTSK NETWORK OF THE AUIP and RED 8), he is IP of I+D+I projects (EDU2013-44047-P; RTI2018-096547-B-100; PID2021-122180OB-I00) and member of other projects national and regional. Its publications include journals indexed in databases with visibility (JCR, SJR, SCOPUS, SCIELO, DICE, RESH,...) along with book chapters from prestigious publishers. He has participated in numerous national and international conferences.
